SELF IMAGE & SEXUALITY - with Fiona Archer

Intro

A huge thanks to Maggie Nash for inviting me on her blog today. Maggie suggested I post whatever I fancy. After asking my readers what they’d like to see here, I’ve chosen to share some of my thoughts on how our self-image affects our sexuality. It’s an integral part of my heroine’s journey in my latest book release, and I believe an issue close to many of our hearts.

Let’s face it; the idea of stripping down and standing naked in front of a lover can be scary. No, let me change that to terrifying. Our minds are conditioned to some mythical clothing size being the litmus test of our worthiness for man, society, and just about every other factor in a woman’s life.

For those of us that fall way outside that magical X classification, it can be a lonely existence, one we try to fill with food, reading, and anything else that lets us hide from that cold, unforgiving world.

Reagan Edwards, my heroine in High-Stakes Loving is, well, curvy. She believes she could lose thirty pounds and still have extra softness. That feeling of being fat, and not pretty, has held her back in some aspects of her life. She’s allowed the taunting voices of the “mean-girl brigade” during her teenage years to twist her reality of how she looks. Those jibes of “fat girl, fat girl” and the pointed stares in the gym change room crystalized from sheer rudeness to form some kind of witness statement of her unworthiness and lack of beauty.

There’s a sense of tragedy to how easily some of us allow such stupid remarks to eradicate our self-confidence in one area and yet bolster us to stand up for ourselves in another. We’ll fight for respect against a misogynistic twit in a professional setting who wants us to stay in a dead-end job because apparently a vagina means you lack intelligence. However, the idea of walking from the bed to the bathroom whilst naked and in full view of a man who professes to be in lust with us is beyond contemplating.

The fear of rejection is crippling. You put yourself out there. Then someone, a person whom you’ve allowed to get close to your heart—and maybe for all the wrong reasons, because truly they didn’t deserve such an honor in the first place—leaves you hanging on that cliff. You’re stunned, then numb, and then the need to retreat takes over. Once again, you’re hiding under your blanket of anonymity.

Luckily for Reagan, she has two Doms, Mike Langley and Quinn Sullivan, who refuse to allow her to stay hidden under that toxic shield. It’s only after they rip it away from her and force her through her personal firewall of fear and rejection that Reagan discovers that not only is she desirable, but that her very self is what gives joy and beauty to these men.

In many respects, writing Reagan’s journey was a cathartic experience for me, including her awakening of her own beauty.

It’s important to add, there is only one person who allows you to keep up a distorted view of yourself. And that’s you. So be kind to yourself. In fact, show yourself some respect and consider the idea that you have always been beautiful. You just haven’t opened your eyes wide enough to see.

Love,

Fiona

High-Stakes Loving, King’s Bluff, Wyoming 2

Blurb

Former SEALs Quinn and Mike have discovered in King’s Bluff, Wyoming, a town that embraces ménage and BDSM lifestyles.  Even better, they found a sweet woman they could love—if they could only gain the shy librarian’s trust. Overhearing that she adores capture fantasy stories, the two Doms know exactly how to get her attention.
Trapped between two experienced Masters, Reagan surrenders. They’re commanding, determined, yet gentle, and everything she ever wanted. Even as she learns what it is to be cherished, a secret from the past emerges, threatening her reputation. She hires her lovers to investigate, expecting them to be on her side. But the damning evidence they uncover rocks their relationship.

As pressure for the truth mounts, danger stalks Reagan. Someone out there believes secrets are best left buried.

Long-held misconceptions and fears stand in their way, risking their futures and allowing the threat closer. The three must fight as one for their love to survive.

Excerpt

Mike pushed the door closed with the kind of unhurried movement that reeked of confidence. He leaned back against the wood, crossing his arms over his chest. Quinn stepped forward, hat in one hand and a black gym bag in the other.

She frowned and glanced up at his face.

“A SEAL always keeps a bag handy. Mike and I have everything we need in here.” He dropped the bag at his feet, followed by his hat.

“Everything?” She guessed he meant more than a clean shirt and deodorant.

“For tonight anyway.” Quinn stalked forward, his body now so close she had to lift her chin high to meet his gaze. “Reality-check time. I’ll ask you again. Do you want this, Reagan? Because we’re not some pansy-ass Ken doll version of Doms.” He caught her wrists and drew them behind her back, holding them there with one hand.

Her pussy throbbed. She tested his hold, wanting, no, needing to struggle. He tightened his grip. Firm. Inescapable.

Quinn used his grip to push her up against him. “You’re caught, sweetness. And that’s just a preview of things to come. We’re gonna order you about, tie you up, eat your pussy till you’re begging us to let you come, say no because that’s the kind of bastards we are, then we’re gonna eat you up all over again.” He lifted his free hand and ran his thumb over her bottom lip. “I want to discover all the ways you light up when we bury our cocks inside that warm heaven between your legs. You’ll come when we say so and not before. Defy us and you’ll be punished. Still interested?”

Dominated. Tied. Theirs.

Her mouth opened but her voice refused to cooperate.

Mike pushed off the door. “We need the words, Reagan.”

“Y-yes.”

Quinn lessened his hold until her hands fell away to her sides. Somehow, the action left her…bereft.

“Strip,” Mike ordered.

“Here, in the hallway?” They had to be kidding.

Mike’s mouth pressed down in a harsh line. But it was his cold stare washing over her like an icy bath that made her gulp.

She hurried to remove her shirt and tank top. Her fingers struggled to get a grip, as if covered in woolen mittens. Why did the guys have to stand so close?

Dragging the tank top over her head, the easy-fit cotton now impersonated skin-tight spandex, hooking on her elbows until with one hard pull, she managed to lurch free. Sexy, Reagan. With her gaze lowered, she dropped the clothing at her feet.

Thank God for front-closing bras. Her breasts spilled out. Don’t think about all that pale skin. Just hurry. They’re waiting. The white cotton joined the rest of her clothing. After toeing off her sneakers, she pulled her panties down with her jeans.

The cool air wafted over her bare skin. She shivered. There she was, naked in front of Mike and Quinn. And yet, every part of her was alive with a slow burn that kindled from deep between her legs. She moved her gaze from Quinn’s boots to her chest. The hard points of her nipples stood like beacons, screaming her arousal.

Oh, heck, her breasts. She raised her arms.

“Hands by your sides, sugar.” Quinn’s deep voice cut in.

Lowering her hands was like refusing to swim even as the water closed over her head. Her fingers twitched. A tightness filled her belly. Standing there, like a horse on display, seemed so wrong. Shouldn’t she argue back?

“We’re going to push you, Reagan. Well beyond what you’re used to from a partner. In or out of bed.” Mike tilted his head. “Have you been with a Dom before?”

“No.” Only in her dreams. This reality was so much more.

Mike walked behind her.

She forced herself not to swivel around. Look ahead. Chin up.

A line of knuckles brushed against her butt cheek.

She started. Her breasts jiggled.

Mike’s chuckle singed her ears. “Easy, sub.”

She dragged her gaze up to Quinn’s face. The heat of his stare made her stomach muscles quiver, as if he’d twirled a feather over her belly button.

“Ever been tied up?” Mike’s hand curved over her hip.

“No.” Her face heated. It seemed so foreign and carnal, talking about bondage in such a matter-of-fact way.

“Spanked?”

“N-no.” She coughed past the shag pile carpet coating her throat. “I haven’t done anything, besides, you know, normal stuff.” Two lovers at college and an ex-boyfriend in Sheridan. All missionary men, and she wasn’t talking bibles.

This time Quinn chuckled. “We’re gonna open up a whole new world for you, sweetheart.”

Special Guest Madeline Pryce: THE DARK CRAVINGS BLOG TOUR

http://madelinepryce.blogspot.com/p/dark-cravings-blog-tour.htm

A-DARK CRAVINGS-Blog Tour presented by Madeline Pryce

I want to take a minute to thank Maggie for hosting me today. Your books rock (so hurry up and write more so I can keep reading!)

Today, we’re at the bar with Micah. He’s got a lot of attitude (the looks to back it up) and a fondness for guns…and Ella.

ROLE
Hero. Human—or, is he?

FAVORITE QUOTE/SCENE
Micah’s laugh reverberated off the walls, drawing a smile across my face. Only Micah could look this handsome right after he’d been white as a sheet and laid up in bed, ready to die, a mere hour ago.

The dark tufts of his hair were softly skewed from a cowlick I’d never noticed before. At some point he must have dragged a hand through those strands, because there was a streak of my blood on his forehead.

When he looked at me, his eyes sparkled from the challenge. I couldn’t help how my heart beat just a little faster when he winked at me.

“That’s a low blow, Ella.”

Bending down, Micah nuzzled the side of my face. When he got to my neck, his tongue just barely snaked out to lap at the bite, his bite, that hadn’t healed on my neck. The only things my vampiric powers hadn’t healed were his bites. Mates. I shivered. A needy moan escaped my lips, encouraging him.

Light as a feather, Micah ran his hand up my side. He cupped the back of my neck. Gently, he pulled me forward and tilted my head to the side as if to kiss me. Good God, what was he doing to me? At the last moment, when my eyes closed and my lips parted, he guided my all too pliable body to the floor until I was lying on my back.

He gently straddled my hips and pinned me to the shaggy brown rug.

“I’m plenty man enough, haven’t I proven that already?” he whispered.

PREFERRED BEVERAGE
Woodford Reserve Bourbon, neat—as smooth as a good scotch, but still carries the smokiness of a Bourbon

CHARACTER INSPIRATION
David Williams (Aussie rugby star who looks better out of uniform…)

CHARACTER INSPIRED COCKTAIL/SHOOTER
Green Demon—tastes like honeydew and lemons, it also matches Micah’s eyes when they glow…

GIVEAWAY
For a chance to win an electronic copy of DARK CRAVINGS leave a comment (be sure to include your email). I’ll randomly pick a replier within three days for each blog stop. Don’t forget to enter the grand prize (Rafflecopter link at bottom). One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift card from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

GREEN DEMON

1 oz Rum
1 oz Vodka
1 oz Melon Liqueur
Top up with Lemonade

Shake all ingredients except the Lemonade with crushed ice and pour into a highball glass. Top up with Lemonade. Garnish with mint.

BLURB
As a half-breed vampire, Ella Grey’s life sucks. She does her best to pass the time killing demons and secretly admiring her Shadow Hunter partner, Micah. He’s hot, dangerous and knows it. He’d be just Ella’s type if he weren’t likely to kill her the moment she put a toe out of line.

A chance encounter with a succubus changes everything. From the second the succubus’s spell washes over them, Ella and Micah are helpless to keep their hands off one another. The sex, when it’s not leaving them on the verge of death, is earth shattering and for the first time in ages Ella is connected with someone on a level she’d feared lost forever. But a dangerous prophecy has been set into motion, and if Ella’s not careful it’ll pull her straight from Micah’s arms and into the deepest bowels of the underworld.

Sharing Nicely with Victoria Blisse - Adult excerpt!

Today I am delighted to share the vivacious Victoria Blisse's new release with you.  What's not to like about a yummy menage? And another gorgeous cover from Totally Bound!

Enjoy!

Two
hot, sexy billionaires know what they want and they want her, but will they be
happy to share nicely?
Kerry Matthews is used to stress—she runs
her own high-end London club called Diamonds, but what she isn’t used to is
attention from two very persuasive and powerful men.
Darren Bennett and Greg Stamford are
life-long rivals, but call a truce to spend one night with sassy, curvy Kerry.
They’re not content to share forever though. They both have a selfish desire to
possess her completely.

Darren buys her seductive lingerie, flowers
and chocolates, Greg flies her to Paris for a romantic break, cleans her flat
and makes her breakfast in bed. Both vying to cement their place in her heart.
She needs to decide between them but is dazzled by their persuasive personas
and extravagant gifts.

Reader
Advisory: This book contains a scene of MFM Ménage and some violence.

Excerpt:

“So, are you two ready?” he asked. “I’ll get Chester to bring the limo round.”

“We can go in mine,” Darren snapped.

“Oh, don’t start this again.” I shook my head. “Decide nicely or I’ll be getting the damn Tube home.”

If the billionaires could be so abrupt with me, I’d be snappy with them.

“Fine,” Darren shrugged, “but we’re going back to my hotel.”

“Where are you staying?”

While the boys argued amongst themselves I took the date book and locked it away in my desk. I’d filled up a lot of the year and some dates had drifted into the next one. With the business I’d secured I was guaranteed to finish the fiscal year pleasantly in profit. I might even be able to afford a holiday. If I could persuade myself to stay away from Diamonds long enough.

When I walked back over to them the boys were silent.

“So, are we actually ready now?”

Greg reacted first, slipping his arm into mine and smiling.

“Yes, it seems me and Darren are staying at the same hotel.”

“Wonderful,” I smiled, intensely relieved. “Lead the way.”

Darren took hold of my other arm and we strode out together. I wasn’t expecting the barrage of flashing lights and yelled questions that greeted us. I supposed I had been a little naïve. The boys, with the aid of some huge security guards, pushed past the demands and we scooted into the back of a shiny black limousine. The mellow scent of leather filled the interior. Everything sparkled. I felt like we were in a separate car to the driver who was way, way down at the front.

“Are we going to the hotel, sir?” a polite voice asked. It sounded like it came from behind me, which was puzzling until I realised there was some kind of intercom device. Greg reached to the side of the limo and pressed a button.

“Yes, please, Chester.”

I would have liked more space to actually enjoy the ride home but I was crowded by two competing men and so spent my time flipping my gaze from one to the other, answering questions. Both were squeezed up close to me and both seemed determined to seduce me. I found that mind-spinningly crazy.

“What perfume are you wearing?” Darren ducked his head to sniff at my neck. I was very aware of his lips hovering just above my pulse point. I wished he’d kiss me there.

“Oh, I don’t know. Something fruity.” My mind went completely blank.

“You smell good enough to eat.” Darren continued and his lips did touch my skin but only for the briefest second. My whole body tightened at the gentle kiss.

“Your dress is beautiful.” It seemed Greg was not to be outdone—in fact he boldly ran his hand down my body from my shoulder, over my breast and lower. “I love the feel of velvet.”

“Thank you,” I squeaked then cleared my throat. “Thanks, I love velvet too.”

Tension zinged through me, sexual and otherwise. These two guys who I’d only just met were making me into a battlefield. They were warring to control me.

I wasn’t a woman who enjoyed being mollycoddled. I took decisions, I dived into situations and I expected all of my staff to be respectful to both men and women. I’d reprimanded several for sexism and would go as far as to sack someone if they didn’t change their ways. I should have been appalled by the situation—I wasn’t just a trophy or a business contract. I should have kicked up a fuss and left then and there.

But I didn’t. I liked being the centre of attention. I liked being the prize they both wanted.

I waited for the next move but we pulled up outside the hotel so I had to wait until we exited the car. Again, both men linked arms with me. It was cold outside but apart from the cool breeze on my cheeks I barely felt it because their hard bodies protected me from the elements.

They whisked me across the marble frontage, past the liveried doorman and into a huge reception area. It glittered with prestige and marble. Everything was perfect, neat and tidy. There was nothing overly ornate or showy but you could tell by the purposeful minimalism that this was a very classy place. The kind of place I’d only ever imagined visiting.

We moved across the hall into the bar. Again it was big, shiny but understated. The bar was long and all the staff behind it were in immaculately cut uniforms. They all looked smart and tidy and I looked on with envy. I wished I could get my own staff to look so impressive.

“What would you like to drink?” Darren asked and smirked at Greg.

“I’d love a glass of water, really,” I replied, “I’m so thirsty.”

“I’ll get them to send over some water too, but should we have some champagne? It was a very good night for us all after all.”

Both Darren and Greg had won awards and I was sure they’d both made several deals too as they played the room.

“Yes, why not?” Greg answered before me. “Champagne sounds good.”

When Darren moved away Greg turned to me.

“Look, Kerry, I really would love to spend the night with you but it is killing me to be nice to him.”

“This is you being nice?”

“Exactly.” He almost smiled. I found it surprisingly endearing. “Please can we dump the other guy?”

“No.” I was very firm, it surprised even me. “No, I said I wanted to spend time with you both, so that is what’s going to happen. If you don’t like it, you can leave.”

“God, woman. You’re infuriatingly stubborn.” He growled.

“Now that is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.” I laughed.

Greg sighed. “I’m not used to being told what to do, Kerry. I’m the one in control.”

“I’d noticed, but if you want me, you play by my rules.” It was fun playing him at his own game.

“Oh, I want you.” His growl turned to a gravelly purr. It wasn’t cute, it was the noise of a killer beast merely at rest. Any moment he could pounce and rip me apart. It turned me on. I wriggled in my seat and my damp knickers chafed against my plump lips.

“Then you’ll share nicely.” I leaned in and kissed him. He was shocked, almost as much as I was. His lips were hard and ungiving for a moment—I thought maybe I’d pushed him too far—but then they melted, opened and pushed back and I felt his pent-up arousal running into me. I released my frustrated desire with every move of my lips.

We pulled apart and I had to pant to regain my breath while he licked his lips like he was savouring the taste.

“I’ll do it for you,” he said. I was intoxicated with the power of having him under my control.

“Hey, I want one too.” Darren came back, placed a glass of water before me and pressed his lips to mine. His were plump and giving. He prodded his tongue between my lips, into my mouth, taking control of the kiss and control of me. I felt like I might explode into a million pieces. I hadn’t been kissed in months and now I’d had two smoking hot smooches in as many minutes from two very hot but very different men.

“Okay,” I gasped when he pulled away, “now you’re even.”

The guys glowered at each other. I looked around the room to calm my nerves. Not a single person looked at us. Obviously such things happened often in bars of high-class hotels. It didn’t happen often to me. At all, in fact. I wondered if I was dreaming. I pinched my thigh below the table. It hurt. I definitely wasn’t dreaming.

A tall, skinny waiter brought us a bottle of champagne stood in a silver ice bucket. Balanced on his tray were three tall flutes. He transferred everything to our table with great pomp. I was in awe of his skill.

“Thank you,” I called. He nodded his head politely and walked off.

I knew a little about wine and champagne, only because my barman told me what I needed to order. The champagne in the bucket was clearly expensive—I’d never even heard of the name—and it was suitably French, obviously. I was sure Darren had ordered the most expensive in the place just to outdo Greg. I outdid both of them by just sipping at my water.

“Shall we take the rest of the bottle to my room?”

I nearly choked when I heard what Greg had said.

“Pardon?”

“Well, you wanted us to share nicely and I don’t think that even in an establishment like this where confidentiality is taken seriously we could share you, nicely or otherwise, right here in the bar.”

It took a moment to register that Greg Stamford, billionaire high-flyer and serious hottie, was propositioning me for a threesome. I’d agreed to it earlier, but it still seemed too much like a fairy tale to be actually real.

“I agree, mate. We’d get chucked out. Want to go to my room? It’s the Ambassador Suite.” Darren announced this like I should be impressed. Maybe it was the most expensive room in the hotel? I wasn’t sure.

“My room has the best view over the city,” Greg snapped.

“Yes, that’s what they tell people who can’t get in the Ambassador Suite.”

“Boys, stop it.” My voice was quite loud. The low murmur of conversation stopped for a moment, then carried on.

“Look. You are both very rich, I get it. You both want to be top dog, I get that too, but would you stop bickering like bloody schoolboys, okay? I am very flattered, truly, and I never in a million years would have imagined being in this situation…” I left the sentence hanging and gathered my thoughts.

“Please don’t say no.” Darren’s smile dissipated. “I’m sorry.”

“Well—” I tried to continue with my tirade. I had the moral high ground. I was going to say thanks but no thanks and leave both gentleman hanging, but say that I hoped they’d both still honour their bookings. I was going to make a stand, I really was. Then… Well, I’m not quite sure what happened.

“I’m sorry too,” Greg added. “We’re just billionaires used to getting our own way. Let’s go to the Ambassador Suite, it’s a lovely room.”

Had I heard that right? Had Greg Stamford apologised and ceded to his most hated rival?

“Yes, let’s,” Darren nodded. “Please, Kerry?”

I challenge any woman alive to not cave in when hit with not one but two sets of puppy dog eyes from intensely handsome men. I couldn’t do it.
“Come on then,” I whispered, “lead the way.”

Wednesday Wisdom with Jennifer Wright

Today we welcome the lovely and talented Jennifer Wright.  Her books are sexy, hot and pretty darn awesome so I'm so pleased she's my guest today :-)

I've asked her the tough questions so lets see how she answered them...

Tell us about your new release.

Airos (which is currently up for pre-order at 15% off at Total-E-Bound) is the 3rd book in my Finding Home series. In the first two books there has been an ongoing ‘thing’ between Larken and Zane, and in Airos, that ‘thing’ is finally progressing. This is Zane’s story, and he has a big decision to make – who’s he gonna love, Larken his long-time best friend that could be perfect for him, or a new character that’s been thrown into the mix that he can’t seem to get out of his head?
Well, he can’t really seem to get either out of his head, actually. Decisions, decisions….

Why not both? Hehehehe

How about telling us a little about your road to publication.

I’ve always had stories floating around in my head, conjuring up new ones every other day, and a few years back I was reading the ‘About the Author’ in the back of a book and saw that this author was an insurance agent by day – writer by night. I thought to myself, if they can do it, maybe I can too. So, I sat down and started writing one of the most recent stories in my head at the time, and ten months later I was sending out submissions. That book didn’t take (and I understand why – definitely needs some rewriting before I send it out again), but I kept writing despite the turn-downs. I got lucky when TEB accepted Pavarus, and it’s all been crazy writing since.

Where did you come up with the idea for this book?

I’ve been asked this before, and again I feel stupid for saying I honestly can’t remember. Like I mentioned before, I’m constantly creating new stories in my head – whether or not they make it to paper is another thing – but they’re still always coming in. Music, country scenery, a story my step-dad tells me…practically everything gives me ideas. I really wish I could remember what caught my eye (or ear) that gave me the idea for the Finding Home series.

How did you research for your story? Was it fun?

I didn’t really do research since the stories take place in another dimension, I had to make everything up. The only thing I really researched was names. I have a lot of unique names for people, places, languages, etc., and I wanted to see if any of them were actually real. One name for a country I made up actually ended up being a real word but in a different language, so I nix that and thought of something else. I wanted my ‘made-up’ words to be as original as possible.

You write both fantasy and romantic suspense.  Do you find it hard to switch between genres?  What are the bonuses of writing two ways?

Not really. The only thing I somewhat struggle with is making an action/tragic story a romance. There have been books that I’ve read that I thought, ‘There is no way those two would be getting it on at a time like this!’ So how do you blend murder, kidnapping, evil guys and people falling in love? Very carefully.

Is this part of a series?  Any plans for other stories based on these characters?
Yes and yes. There are 2 books to follow Airos – Athis Dey and TorDrega. They are the last in the series. I won’t go into detail about them yet because I don’t want to give away anything for the 3rd book. A lot of new things and people come-about in Airos, and they definitely send new twists into the series.

Yes!

What was the hardest part about writing this book?

The fact that I had to rewrite half of it.

I was questioning and struggling with Airos once I got about halfway through it, so I passed it on to my beta reader to see what she thought so far. I basically got an F – and she was right to give it. I had almost every character doing things and acting completely, well, out of character. The storyline basis was good, but I needed to change the attitudes and actions of everyone. It took me months to rewrite what I had, but after that was finished the words flowed from there on out.

What was the easiest part?

The sex scenes. *blushes* They’re always the easiest. ;)

Hahahaha...

Favorite Scene?

A new character, Bo, finds out some big news pertaining to him and his brother, and there’s a scene right after between him and Zane that just ate at my heart. But again, I won’t say too much – don’t want to give anything away just yet.

Where can readers find out more about your new release?

You can find all my book and the latest updates on my blog, http://authorjenwright.wordpress.com/, or at Total-E-Bound’s site

What are you working on now?

Too many books to mention, lol! But my main goal is to finish the last 2 books in the Finding Home series.

And now for the personal questions-

Favourite food?

Pasta!

Favourite author?

It’s a tie between J.R. Ward and J.L. Langley.

Favourite season?

Summer.

If you could invite any five people, famous or not – who would you invite to dinner?
My mom, step-dad, sister, niece, and dad. Family is everything to me and I have the best times when I’m with them.

BIO:

I was born in Arizona, but have spent the better part of my life in Wisconsin. If I’m not typing away on my laptop, you’ll find me with my nose buried in a book, or with my loving boyfriend debating on what movie to watch and the never ending back and forth decision of what we should have for dinner.  I love spending time with my family and boyfriend, cuddling with my two cats, and laughing as much as possible (cuz I like to think I'm funny :-D).

BLURB: AIROS

Zane has everything in his life under control and in order, but can he keep it that way when a young dragon is thrown into his life?

Zane was meant to be a warrior—end of story. Though he may not have had the most pleasant life living at the coven, he still loved being there. But the steadiness of his world came to a halt all within one day’s events. A man he never saw coming has pushed the boundaries of what little normalcy he has, and learning of a secret love is just confusing him even more. Zane has never felt more torn on what he should be feeling…and for whom. Though, if he assumed having two men plaguing his every waking thought was hard enough, learning of the danger his mother is in nearly has his head spinning off into another dimension.

The leader of the Dráguns is threatening to take everything away from him, his best friend is slipping further and further away from him, and a little dragon is managing to get under his skin in more ways than one. Sorting out what he has to do, what he wants, and what’s right for him will be the biggest challenge he’s ever been faced with. New Release: The Wolf on the Run - Jorja Lovett

Thanks for having me today to share my new release, The Wolf on the Run, book two in my series, The Wild Irish Wolves. This book is special to me for so many different reasons, not least my love of a certain Alpha police officer. My book boyfriend aside, this release is a big deal to me. This is my first publication as a full time writer *gulps*

Yes, I've made that huge leap from steady income to monthly nail-biting unpredictability. But, you know what? I'm doing what I love - creating characters, imagining worlds, and writing romance. I appreciate I'm probably not going to make millions, but being happy in what I do means far more to me. Life's too short to give up on our dreams and I've spent so long working towards mine I've got to grab it now when I have the chance.

When we make these big decisions in life, we know we'll work our asses off to make it work. I intend to do just that. So, be warned, I have a lot of wolves howling in my ear to have their stories told! I love my Olcan Hills pack and hopefully my readers will have the same passion for Rory and co too.

The Wolf on the Run – Jorja Lovett

Alpha Rory is determined to protect his pack, including feisty Naomi. How can he get close when she's intent on facing her demons alone?

Blurb:
As a police officer and Alpha of the Olcan Hills' pack, being a protector is in Rory Blake's DNA.
When Naomi Duffy turned up heavily pregnant and alone, Rory's natural instinct was to look after her. However, her fierce need for independence over the years has ensured they've never been anything more than friends.

Naomi has spent too long trying to keep her daughter safe to jeopardise everything for a fling. But, when her past threatens to catch up with her, Rory is the only person she trusts with her life.
Thrown together, the couple finally succumb to their passion and it's all too easy to forget the danger lurking in the hills.

Do Rory and Naomi have a future together, or will secrets from the past tear them apart?
Excerpt:

Naomi came after Rory, pitting her stealthy grace against his sheer power. In his peripheral vision, he could see the wisps of her breath spiralling into the cold air as she forged ahead, determined to catch him. Rory snorted, sending his own white breath curling up into the atmosphere.
He led her over the hills, their claws making short work of carving up the cold, hard terrain. Naomi never lost ground. Even when he made a turn towards the woods on the boundary, she kept pace.
The chase awakened something deep inside him—that animal freedom with no responsibilities except the survival of himself and his pack. The spiky silhouettes of barren trees lined his path, like broad strokes of a black marker pen scratched against the silver sky.

He dodged in and out, never slowing, with Naomi always in pursuit. Occasionally, a pair of woodland eyes blinked at him from the darkness—a rabbit, a fox, observing their bizarre courtship.
Rory had no doubt the exhilaration of their illicit run would end in wild sex between him and Naomi. It was like a very enthusiastic bout of foreplay without actual touching.
They crunched through the leaf-littered forest floor until he tired of being the hunted. He looped back the way they came and stopped in a clearing. In all aspects of life he preferred to be the one doing the chasing, but at this moment in time he wanted nothing more than to be caught.

He shifted back into his naked, horny self. Naomi came to a skidding halt seconds later, scooting a bundle of leaves over his bare feet. “You can run, wolf lady, I'll give you that. Now can we go back to bed?”

She shifted back to stand beautifully naked before him. “Not until you say it.”

“Say what?” He was hard as hell and ready for round two.

“That I’m as good as you.” She gave him a flirty smile. One which said she was looking forward to the future rather than staring back at the past. The run had obviously done wonders for her too.
“That was probably a fluke. I don’t think you could keep up with me on a normal day. You know, one where you haven’t seduced me on top of a car boot and made me carry you home first.” The play fighting wasn’t limited to their animal personas. Not when it proved such a turn on. Human or wolf, the scent of Naomi’s arousal would always draw him to her.

“I didn’t hear you complaining at the time. But, if you’re tired, just say and we’ll call it a night.” She shrugged her shoulders, making her boobs jiggle enough to bring his erection to full strength once more.

He stepped forward and brushed her wild hair from her face. “I’ll never be too tired for you, Naomi. I’ll race you back. This time the winner stays on top.”

She grinned, eyes twinkling as bright as the stars. “You’re on.”

This was one race he intended to lose.

Author Bio:

Jorja Lovett is a British author with both Irish and Scottish roots, which makes for a very dry sense of humour. Writing since she was old enough to wield a pen, it wasn't until she joined her crit group, UCW, that she pursued her passion seriously.

Now, with Joe Manganiello as her permanent muse, if she can leave the pause button on her Magic Mike dvd long enough, she hopes to spend the rest of her days writing steamy romances.

Character Interview: Galen from Hesparia's Tears by Imogene Nix

Hi Maggie,

Thanks for having both of Galan and I over to visit today.  Now, I'll just go sit over there and drink my champagne while you chat with Galan, okay?

• I know your name is Galan, but do you have a nickname?

Not really. In Hesparia most people are busy from a young age, particularly as we are all working to achieve a common goal. Nicknames really aren't a part of our culture.

• Tell me about your friends and family? Who do you surround yourself with?

My father and I have a very close relationship. It's not just a... a ruler and his heir. I am the only child, my mother dying when I was young. I have cousins and uncles I am close to. But my father has been a huge influence.
Among my friends are those who serve on the Princess Gospah. And of course, since my time here, there is now Jessa, Seth and Danni.

• Where were you born?

I was born in the palace in the town of Griffen on Orsar, our main continent. It is also the home of our diplomatic and senatorial chambers. I also grew up there. It's not big, not like a lot of the palaces and houses of power here on Earth. It is well fortified though. *Galan laughs*

• In the past you have described Hesparia as agrarian and pacific, but as the heir of the ruling house, how does that affect you?

On Hesparia, we really don't consider ourselves to be any different from the rest of the populace. Along with everyone else, we harvest and plant, gather and store. We eat in the communal dining areas regularly as well.

• Galan, if you had to describe you biggest fear, what would it look like?

It would be hundreds and thousands of men, alone on a dying planet.
Galan looks away for a moment. When he turns back, his eyes shine with tears.
It's a sight I've seen before. The graves of the women as their DNA slowly degenerates and man after man watching his wife birth dead children. Desolation.

• Do you think you will ever find love again?

Ah... a gentleman never tells, but there is one woman...

• The Hesparian delegation is here to find woman, willing to relocate to Hesparia. Why? Make a case as to why the woman would wish to go there.

I can't offer a miracle. But I can offer a fresh start. An opportunity to make decisions about your future and to learn new skills. To be important to someone and hopefully to find the one person who will complete you.
You will have the freedom to live you life the way it is important to you. Free of religious persecution.
Our planet does not suffer from the levels of pollution Earth does, so health wise it's an added factor. Though we have fine healers and physicians.
And a chance to be one of the first humans to travel and settle on another planet.

• When you are home, what is the normal routine for a no-work day?

Most days require some kind of daily labour. Whether it's the feeding and tending of animals, or checking the fields. But on quiet days, we might visit the ocean, read or play and compose music.
There are many artisans on Hesparia and we are very proud of our musical traditions.

• What is one strong memory that has stuck with you since childhood?

I remember my grandmother. She was a strong woman and very artistic. She potted and wove up until her passing.  I remember the last time I travelled with her to a funeral of a woman. The men wailing at the door. She put her hand in theirs, knew their names. Spoke to them like real people. Treated them with the ultimate respect before taking me within the house to help with the laying out of the body.
It was a powerful moment in my life, reminding me that above all, no matter who we are, we all live and are loved equally.

Thanks for having us Maggie. It's been both a pleasure and an honour to be here.

HESPARIA'S TEARS: Blurb

What will happen when the past catches up?

Galan is from Hesparia, where the females are dying out on his pacific agrarian planet.
Jessa has a past, one she hasn’t earned but cannot escape from.

What will happen when opportunity knocks?

Galan travels to earth, hoping to plead the case for Hesparia. He doesn’t expect Jessa or The Quickening.

Can he make the case for women to migrate to Hesparia and arrange a Diplomatic Alliance? Can they trust one another with their hearts. And can Jessa really escape her past?

Excerpt

The spaceship entered orbit and Jessa watched the tracking on the television. Since learning of the existence of extraterrestrials, it was about all she wanted to do. See where they were and where they planned to land.

The reporter came back on the screen. “We believe they will make their landing somewhere on the continent of Australia. There have been no further radio communications from the craft, however. So it is, at best, an educated guess right now.”

Jessa giggled at the sober face of the young, twenty-something reporter standing outside the Parkes Observatory and the inane follow up comment made by the thirtyish female news anchor.

“Jessa, it’s time for bed!” her mother yelled again.

She sighed dramatically. At twenty-four she was no longer a child, even though her parents seemed to struggle with that small fact.

Maybe it’s time to move out. As quickly as the thought had crossed her mind, she dismissed it. Leaving home meant more expense than she could possibly afford. The thing that really irked her was paying an outstanding legal bill for something she hadn’t even done. It was a refrain that had played through her mind over and over again since the event had taken place. It may have happened years ago, but she continued to pay for her youthful indiscretion. One she had long regretted.

Jessa stood, before heading down the old hallway to the bathroom. Living at home meant sharing a bathroom with her little brother, Ben. Of course, being a boy of sixteen, he was disgusting. There were used razor blades, splashes of water, foam from his recent shaving experience and hairs in the sink. Knowing it would make no difference complaining about it she carefully picked up the discarded detritus and placed it in the bin beside the vanity unit, wiped away the mess and began her own night-time ritual.

Emerging from the bathroom, she spied her mother, standing at the end of the hall in her fluffy blue dressing gown with matching slippers, and her blonde hair sitting high on her head in soft curlers. It was the same scene every night. “Night, Jessa.”

“Night, Mum.” What else was there to say? In a funk, Jessa entered her room, before closing the door then sat down on her single bed. She breathed deeply, letting the oxygen flow through her system, before slowly levering herself down across the mattress. Her blinds were open so she had an excellent view of the star-studded sky. It was a major positive to living on the edge of town, the absence of bright lights.

“Whoever you are, I certainly hope you’re friendly,” Jessa muttered, before closing her eyes, rolling onto her side and willing herself to sleep. For some reason, an excited thrill ran through her system.
Finally, visitors from the stars. No longer was it a figment of someone’s imagination or something from a science fiction novel. The time had come for them to have contact with another species. That was a sobering thought. The Prime Minister had sent a radio message to the ship. God, I hope the Prime Minister didn’t act like a pompous dick. Jessa snuggled down under the covers, waiting for the touch of sleep. Her mind wandered and she drowsed.

Her mobile, sitting on the bedside table buzzed and vibrated. Jessa muttered in the dark, groping for the device. She reached out and found the red leather covered item and dragged it to her ears.

“’lo?”

“Jessa, it’s me. Seth. Can you come to the office at the telescope? I need you.” His voice was excited.
She squinted. “I was asleep, Seth. Besides which, I’m off duty until Saturday.” The room was gloomy and she screwed her face up into a scowl, knowing sleep would probably elude her now. “What could be so important that I need to come in right now?” Jessa pushed back the covers, swung her legs over the side then slipped her feet into her old grey slippers beside the bed.

“I can’t tell you over the phone.”

“What?” Something was happening. An agitated thrill filled her chest and for an instant her mind warred with the interest that spiked.

“Jessa…”

He didn’t need to plead. Jessa was already getting up to hunt out clothes. “Sure. Yeah, I’ll be there in a few minutes.”

“Thanks. You really won’t regret it.” The delight in his voice was contagious.

Jessa hurriedly tapped the end call button.

Special interview with C. A Szarek. Writing multiple genres...

Hi everyone.  Today I welcome a good friend and awesome author Chrissy Szarek. I've asked her the tough questions, and here's her answers....pretty cool huh?

Maggie: Tell us about your new release.

My debut novel, Sword’s Call (King’s Riders Book One) was released at the end of Feb. It’s high fantasy, a classic quest story!

For generations, the Ryhans, ruling family of the Province of Greenwald have been keepers of a sword rumored to possess enough magic to defeat kings. Lord Varthan, a former archduke and betrayer of the king, covets the sword and invades Greenwald.
Lady Ceralda Ryhan, daughter of the murdered duke, gains the sword and flees, trusting only her white wolf, Trikser—magically bonded to her. Cera needs nothing more to aid in her fight.
Jorrin Aldern, half elfin and half human, left his home in the mountains of Aramour to find his human father who disappeared twenty turns before, but finds Cera with Varthan and his shades on her tail instead. His dual heritage and empathic magic will tempt Cera in ways she never thought she’d desire. But can he convince her trust and love can pave the path to redemption or will the epic battle end in tragedy and evil conquer them all?

WHERE YOU CAN FIND IT?

Maggie: How about telling us a little about your road to publication.

It was certainly arduous at times. I have always been a writer, but I wasn’t sure how to approach publication. But then a few years ago, I joined a group of writers, NTRWA (the North Texas Chapter of Romance Writers of America) and also a critique focused group, GFTWW (Greater Ft. Worth Writers). These two groups of AWESOME writers gave me the direction I needed to get published. These days, there are so many options out there. Agent, going directly to a publisher, self-pub…the avenues are endless.

I decided I wanted to submit to publishers who didn’t necessarily require agents.

I went through more publishers than I can count, and rejections get you down.

But I am a firm believer that when you write a book, or books, publication is a matter of getting your work in front of the right person.

So I kept at it, until I have my right fit. And I did, with Gypsy Shadow Publishing. They’re great, and I am so happy they signed my series. It’s a great home for me and my books.

Maggie: Where did you come up with the idea for this book?

A dream, actually. A very long time ago, I dreamt of a girl with a white wolf, and I worked on this book off and on for about twelve years. Then I finished it in about 6 months when I got serious about wanting to get published, a few years ago.

How did you research for your story? Was it fun?

This is fantasy, so I didn’t research much. I made it all up! LOL!

Maggie: You write both fantasy and romantic suspense.  Do you find it hard to switch between genres?  What are the bonuses of writing two ways?

I actually write more than these two genres. I have a paranormal (wolf shifters) and a contemporary YA, as well as a paranormal YA in the works. I kinda just write what occurs to me.

I do love fantasy! Always have, and always will. I love romantic suspense and I am glad I have these two series going.

Switching back and forth isn’t a problem. It’s just that I struggle to write in the real world (not always in a bad way). When you write contemporary and police related, everything has to be credible, logical. I have a background in law enforcement, but I still need help sometimes, which I’m lucky. I work for a court, and our police dept is available and helpful for my questions.

I guess it’s just easier for me to make up my own world and rules than follow the real ones! Hehehe.

Wow... that's a lot of juggling!

Is this part of a series?  Any plans for other stories based on these characters?
Yes, this is a series. Book 2, Love’s Call, will be out in late 2013 or early 2014.

Here’s the blurb:
Senior King’s Rider Ansley Fraser has been in love with Leargan Tegran for turns, but he’s never noticed her. When she sets out for Greenwald to deliver a message to the duke, she has no idea its contents contain an order that will change her life. Instead, she is focused on visiting dear friends.
Leargan, captain of the Greenwald personal guard, is an honorable knight, so when the king commands him to wed Ansley, he intends to follow orders, even as he knows nothing of the girl.
Ansley ignores her instinct to question Leargan’s sudden interest in her. She wants to fall into his arms—and his bed—even as Ali, her wolf bondmate, growls her reticence.
Her extended visit allows Leargan time to win her affection, but when he falls for Ansley, it takes him by surprise. Will she be willing to give herself to him if she learns their marriage has been commanded by the king? What will it take to convince her he’s not simply following orders?

What was the hardest part about writing this book?

Editing it! Wow. It changed so much over the years. I am happy with the final product, but it is DEFINITELY not anything like what it was when I started it.

What was the easiest part?

Seeing thing through my characters eyes. They told me where the story was headed.

Favorite Scene?

Hmmm…I don’t know that I can pick just one. The spicy scenes, of course. ;)

Where can readers find out more about your new release?

What are you working on now?

I am working on Chance Collision, which is the 2nd book in my Crossing Forces romantic suspense series. It a fun book so far! I was a bit blocked but had a FANTASTIC brainstorming session with a few friends last weekend and now I am on a roll!

Collision Force (Crossing Forces Book One) will be released from Total-E-Bound Publishing! I am so excited for this book, I ADORE this couple!

Here’s the blurb:

Badboy, married to his job FBI agent Cole Lucas always gets his man. So when the unthinkable happens and one gets away, Cole grits his teeth and hunts human trafficker Carlo Maldonado all the way to Antioch, Texas, where he collides with Detective Andi MacLaren.
Cole doesn’t do small towns and he doesn’t get involved with women he works with, but Andi tempts him in ways he doesn’t want to acknowledge.

Two murders, her partner shot and leading the investigation on her own, the last thing Andi needs is a cocky FBI agent that sees her as no more than a tagalong.
Widow and single mother Andi is used to being on her own. When Cole gets stuck without a place to stay, crashing on her couch puts them in dangerous territory.

Attraction and passion bring Andi to a place she left behind when her husband died.
Her three-year-old son quickly wiggles his way into Cole’s heart, and he starts contemplating things—family, love—that he’d never planned for himself.

Morticia Knight is Caught in the Act!

Oops – Caught in the Act!

Thanks Maggie for hosting me at your blog today! I’m stopping in for a quick hello, as I’m supposed to be in the writing dungeon finishing up Book Two in the Uniform Encounters series (shhh…don’t tell anyone I’ve escaped – might as well grab some chocolate as well while I’m here.) But as long as I’ve come up for air, I thought I’d talk about something that pops up (literally) in Book One, Set Ablaze.

Ever have one of those “oops” moments? I’m talking about when you either walk in on someone – or gasp – they walk in on you in the middle of some hanky and panky. Yowza. I had a situation one time where I was dating this very hot young guy, but he had just moved to the area, so he was crashing at his sister’s place. It was a one bedroom apartment, so he had the couch. We came back from dinner and a movie one night, and it was the first time I was there with him when we were alone. Or so I thought.

He neglected to mention that his sister was asleep in the bedroom; I just assumed he wouldn’t be crawling all over me if she were home. So there I was, naked and grinding away on top of Mr. Luscious (oh yes – he was quite delectable), and the bedroom door bursts open. Without even acknowledging our existence, she goes into the kitchen, pops the light on, and opens the refrigerator door, where she proceeds to survey the contents, trying to decide which midnight snack she prefers.

I had immediately frozen on top of my own midnight snack, and was watching this, completely flabbergasted. My oblivious date shook me and goes, “Why did you stop?” Hot or not, I decided this whole family arrangement was a little too creepy for me, so I quickly jumped off of him and grabbed my dress. Suddenly his sister seems to notice us. She takes in the situation, and says , “Oh, don’t worry about me, I’ll be out of here in a sec.”

I suddenly remembered that I had to get up early in the morning for something, I really should go, etc., etc., and I grabbed my stuff and bolted. Yikes. Hey – for some people, that might not have been a big deal, but I prefer not to share my carnal behavior with other members of my partner’s family – sort of a personal boundary, you know? Have any of you ever either walked in on, or had someone walk in on you when you were doing the nasty? Comment below, and I will randomly pick someone to receive an ecopy of my new release “Set Ablaze”. In the following excerpt, Tom drops in on Fire Chief Eric – at a rather inopportune time.

From “Set Ablaze”, available now from Total E Bound Publishing

It was ten p.m. when he arrived at the station, and his pulse quickened a little when he saw the light still on in the chief’s office as he pulled in the driveway. If he kept driving past the garage where the engines were kept and parked by the sleeping quarters, the office would be completely obscured from any of the guys on shift—even if they went outside for a smoke. Tom noticed a tan Ford Bronco parked at the end where the office was. That must be the chief’s ride. Exactly what he would have pictured him in.

Tom was about to continue pulling all the way in, when he thought of something. Maybe he could just drop in and thank Eric again for the opportunity. Who knew when else he might be able to see him without anyone else around?

Stupid. It’s late at night, I’m sure he doesn’t want to be bothered.

Tom sat there letting the car idle while he wrestled with his gut instinct—the one that was telling him it was a bad idea. Then a wonderful realisation hit him—he’d promised the chief he would drop off a copy of his most recent physical as he was stuttering and bumbling out of his office earlier. Tom put the car in park, and jumped out. He opened the back lift gate, and rummaged around for the paper he’d brought with him.

Yeah, it was still a little weird, but he could at least say that he’d seen the light on, and thought it would be easiest for him to drop it off on his way in to his shift. His heart thumping in his chest, Tom grabbed the document, parked his car properly, and started to walk towards the office door, surprised to note that his legs actually felt a little shaky.

I must be more tired than I realised, that’s all.

He reached the door to the building, and it was unlocked, so he went ahead and pulled it open. The waiting area and Keri’s office were completely dark, but there was a sliver of light coming from the partially opened door to the chief’s office. He heard a groan.

Oh shit, is he okay?

Tom ran forward and was about to burst into the office when he heard another voice, a younger male one.

“Oh yeah, you like that, don’t you, Mr Anderson? You like it when I squeeze your cock and play with the tip like that, don’t you? You see—you need me. I’m going to show you how much more you need me when I lick your balls and then suck the juice right out of your fucking huge cock. Here I come, baby…”

Tom heard an even louder groan, and Chief Anderson’s voice, “Oh God, Brad, I can’t believe how good that feels. But I…”

“You want me to stop? Is that it? Okay, if you don’t need my tongue doing this to you…”

Tom heard a whimper.

“Or this…”

What is he doing? What is he doing?

Tom was bombarded with a flurry of emotions—surprise, lust, jealousy, curiosity. He didn’t know what to do. God, the chief wasn’t straight after all. But if Tom got caught… He was so curious, but he didn’t dare creep any farther. He should just leave that very second.

The chief moaned some more, and Tom could tell the man was nearing climax. Christ, if he didn’t get out of there soon, he would be too. He’d need to get his boner to go down before he could even head over to start work. What a night! Tom turned around to leave, and bumped his leg against the magazine table. Without thinking, he cried out.

“Who’s there?”
