Back on track!

Woo hooo...back in the negative! I walked to work and home 3 times this week. That's around 45 minutes of brisk walking up and down hills. I reckon it helps!

Slow and steady, but still it's coming off. That can only be good:-)

Loss week 3: 0.9 kg (2lbs)
TOTAL LOSS: 2.2kg (4.9 lbs)

Yay me!

A slight setback...

I'll admit that I probably went overboard on the San Choy Bow and the Vietnamese rolls last night, but hey, that is healthy low fat food!

How come I put on 0.5kg? I was good all week. I tracked my points. I drank water and green tea like it was going out of style and I even walked to work twice.

Someone at the meeting said that eating rice keeps you bulked up for an extra day and that if you wait to weigh in, you actually gain weight. Perhaps that is what it is! Both of those dishes have rice vermicelli in them.

I'll know tomorrow and I'll let you know how I go next week.

The important thing is not to get discouraged by this. I'll keep on tracking and hopefully have a great loss this week.

So this week: 0.5kg gain
Total Loss: 1.2kg

So I'm still ahead!

Happy St Valentine's Day!

You know it's really weird how some years the media makes a bigger deal out of this than others. I swear today here in Sydney I hear and saw at least double the normal stories and competitions for Valentine's Day, or as my son calls it...rip off the bloke day ! LOL

There is a lot of confusion and contention surrounding the origins of St Valentine's Day.

Some say the original St Valentine was a priest who was jailed for secretly marrying couples when marriage was illegal...he was apparently beheaded. Yuck!

However, the roots of St. Valentine's Day lie in the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia, which was celebrated on Feb. 15. For 800 years the Romans had dedicated this day to the god Lupercus. On Lupercalia, a young man would draw the name of a young woman in a lottery and would then keep the woman as a sexual companion for the year.

Pope Gelasius I was, understandably, less than thrilled with this custom. So he changed the lottery to have both young men and women draw the names of saints whom they would then emulate for the year (a change that no doubt disappointed a few young men). Instead of Lupercus, the patron of the feast became Valentine. For Roman men, the day continued to be an occasion to seek the affections of women, and it became a tradition to give out handwritten messages of admiration that included Valentine's name.

This was probably the real story...but hey, I think that Festival of Lupercalia sounds kinda fun don't you?

So back to what we think it is all about...spending time with someone you love...letting that special someone know how much they mean to you..all good things!

So Enjoy the day and may many St. Valentine's Blessings be upon you!

I got a Happy Valentine's Kiss this morning and will be having champagne tonight!

Tell us what you did or are going to do to celebrate!

So far so good...

Well the weight loss journey is bubbling along quiet nicely. I went along to the WW meeting and the leader says.."Who's bragging this week?" Up went my hand! "I've lost 1.7kg on my first week!" "Fantastic work" she says and claps all around :-)

The points system works well for me. I just track my day's points and I do okay.

Now let's see how I do next week..

So: Weight Loss Week One: 1.7kg (3.74 lbs)

Not bad. Not bad at all :-)

A weight off my mind...soon I hope!

On Friday I decided that enough is enough. 2008 is going to be the year for me and that includes getting fit and healthy so I got off my butt and rejoined Weight Watchers!

Before your very eyes I will be come the Incredible Shrinking Woman!

It will take a while, but I WILL do it!

To keep me on the straight and narrow I'll post my progress here. Even if no one reads it, I will know there is the potential for people to check up and that should be enough!

So Fridays will be check in days...and we are at starting weight :-)

Wish me luck!
