A new year - a new beginning...

I'm sitting here on my balcony of my new apartment, watching the waves beat on the shore in the distance and thinking about how 2012 is already shaping up to being a fantastic year.

For those of you who don't know - 2011 was not the best of years for me. I won't dwell on it, but suffice to say layoffs (dh), surgery (mine and one of my sons), job insecurity(mine with the boss from hell), selling the family home of 17 years, resettling the boys, resettling in a new city, finding new jobs etc all played a part in the "Annus horribilus". But that is all behind me now!

In 2012 I have a new life and I plan to enjoy it!  I'm not going to make resolutions or goals that I can't achieve...I plan on keeping it all very simple...

1. Relax (and how can I not in this beautiful place?)

2. Walk every day (of course it helps that at the end of the walks are cafes so I can indulge in my passion for a good cappuccino :-))

3. Write every day - and finish all those half finished projects I have going! Blog more...host more bloggers...anything writing related :-)

So expect to see more of me in 2012 folks.  I don't want to jinx myself by listing all of the things I want to get done because quite frankly I reckon that's a sure fire way of setting myself up to fail.  So I'm just keeping it simple...

So what are your plans for 2012?

This has been a "Annus horribilus" for me too!

I love your new life and the 'keeping it simple' mentality!

Let's share a cyber-toast for 2012!

Nichelle :)

Isn't it amazing how many people had a bad 2011! I heard the planets were in a bad alignment, but they've moved into a better position now...thank goodness for that!

*Clinks glass* definitely a toast to a great 2012 Nichelle!

Good for you, Mags! Forget the Anus (sic) horribilus.

Make an year of bliss. I'd love to site on a balcony and watch the waves. There's something so cleansing about the ocean breezes. It can blow cobwebs right out of my brain.

We're going on vacation next week and we booked a penthouse in a highrise on the ocean in Panama. It sounds like paradise to me...I hope you find moments of paradise too. You deserve it!

Jeez. I just reread what I published and saw the typos I didn't mean to make!! Gaa! I need that vacation.

Best to both of us in 2012. Don't worry about that Mayan calendar. The little Mayan guy who made it died, and all his friends said, "Well, that stupid project Mario was working on is finally over. Toast to Mario!"

Maggie Nash said...

Thanks Ash. I must be tired too cause I didn't even notice your typos!

The Panama sounds lovely!

ROFLMAO on Mario's project!

Maggie, dear,

Congratulations on surviving the annus horribilis! Your new place sounds fantastic, and I know you're going to take advantage of it.

And maybe I can come be your guest later in the year. Of course you're very welcome over at my blog, too!

Sounds like you are all settled into the new place. Here's to a stellar 2012. Happy new year!

Thanks Lisabet :-) I would love to host you again and would be thrilled to be yours. I'll email you :-)

Hi Heather - yep. We're finally settling in :-) Wishing you a fantastic 2012 as well :-)

Everyone I've spoken to recently has told of a real "Anus Horribilis" {would the literal translation be "badass year"?? LOL)
Mine has been caused by the economy of my beloved GB homeland: the only solution I can see is to escape BEFORE the country goes Bankrupt!Sell a gazillion books, move to a tax haven ... dreams!!
Let's assume the glass is half-full rather than half-empty: 2012 has GOT to be an improvement on 2011 ... hasn't it??
Best wishwes all round

Thanks for dropping by Paul! I wish you the same...we would all benefit for selling a gazillion books! And hey, 2012 can't be much worse than 2011 can it?

I'm also sooooo ready to say goodbye to 2011. Yeesh, what a year. Ended better than it began, but I didn't end up in a new home on the beach! So glad things worked out for you, and here's to hoping 2012 is a smooth sail.

Hi Mags,

I just want to say I had a great year.. I got to talk to great friends, keep tabs on friends that moved to incredibly beautiful beaches, and then leave crazy messages on a site that is more fun than I can say. And, you Miss Maggie, are part of that..

You made 2011 a great year for me.. and I just want to say thanks..

I hope '12 is awesome for you..

Love ya,
Sherry...

Wow sounds like your 2011 was worse than my 2011 which sucked. I too was forced to move in 2011 and had a hospital stay which was a followup to the lengthy hospital stay in 2010. But it had its good points -- I was able to start freelance editing with several publishers and several independent authors so that is good. I also met some wonderful online blogger friends. And read a lot of great books and was introduced to some fantastic new (to me) authors.

Here's to us, a much better 2012 and meeting the realistic goals we've set for ourselves.

Hey DD - yep it was not a good year for a lot of folks!

Sherry *BIG HUGS*...I love you my friend! My year would have been a lot worse if I hadn't had you!

Thanks so much for dropping by Sue :-) I hope the new year is better for you too!

Hey WildAboutBones - lovely to see you here! Your year sucked too! But as you say, things got better...and are looking up so here's to a wonderful 2012 to you too!
